This is not now and never will be, a political blog.
My passion is discernment. My concern is the church goer who has never read God's Word. My frustration is, how easily it is to fool others simply by twisting words. My joy is in my Savior Who will restore all things to pre-fall of mankind.
At the end of this post, I am gonna put a clip of a perfect example I found, and it just so happens to be about a political figure.
Where people stand politically is not my concern. What prompted me to do this post was several things.
1) the clip I found, I'll include at end
2) it was bad enough when we all heard the current president say, to a lady at a town hall meeting, that he did not favor her mother living till 105 yrs of age but when I heard today, the front runner tell another lady, at a town hall, that he would fine her father a severe penalty if he moved his business outside the US, and everyone, including her, was clapping, I asked myself, "just how stupid are we?"
3) am I the only one tired of preachers pushing there congregations to vote. Why that's so wrong on so many levels, it's incomprehensible.
Some things to keep in mind here are : blindness is prevalent in all of us, first and foremost. Some more than others.
Something else to keep in mind would be the parable of the trees, found in Judges 9.
When it comes to blindness, it reminds me HG Wells tale of "the Country of the Blind"
It's about a society of people who were blind, but did not know it. Sound familiar?
Then there's the parable of the trees, which I'll include here. From the book of Judges :
8 One day the trees went out to anoint a king for themselves. They said to the olive tree, `Be our king.' 9 "But the olive tree answered, `Should I give up my oil, by which both gods and men are honored, to hold sway over the trees?' 10 "Next, the trees said to the fig tree, `Come and be our king.' 11 "But the fig tree replied, `Should I give up my fruit, so good and sweet, to hold sway over the trees?' 12 "Then the trees said to the vine, `Come and be our king.' 13 "But the vine answered, `Should I give up my wine, which cheers both gods and men, to hold sway over the trees?' 14 "Finally all the trees said to the thornbush, `Come and be our king.' 15 "The thornbush said to the trees, `If you really want to anoint me king over you, come and take refuge in my shade; but if not, then let fire come out of the thornbush and consume the cedars of Lebanon!'
Now, if anyone doesn't understand why I use these two examples, to set a stage, then this post is for you!
So many people never stop to consider the reasons true Christians object to so much, not only in a world that rejects the Bible as authoritative but inside the visible church as well.
They fail too see the connectivity from this Bible to all that's going on around them.
They fail to see the significance of Israel. This is a major key point , stated throughout the Bible in countless ways.
It must be because, so many find it hard to read the Bible without an agenda attached.
As people live in the results, of ignoring it, which they all readily admit by acknowledging it's obvious decline (the cultures decline) that's a simple definition of "blindness."
To KNOW something and completely IGNORE it.
As far as those who refuse to educate themselves, that's stupid & blind.
Has this entered the visible church? You bet.
Need prove.
Slow the words down most popular preachers use and ask yourself if you have any clue what they just said.
But yet people form opinions, arguments, theories, they even vote, all based on things said they truly have no clue what it means.
Folks such as myself, are not looking for people who agree.
All I care about is that those around me can spot incoherent language when it occurs. Especially when it's from any Pulpit.
If only we could be as the little boy from the tale of "the emperor has no clothes."
Folks sit in churches week after week, feeling pretty good about THEMSELVES but in truth, there really not sure why.
So It stands to reason, they will approach all issues this way.
I heard it said that 50 million Christians didn't vote last election. I don't know if that's true and I don't really care.
This notion, that Christians voting to affect culture is what I call the "Hezekiah complex vote"
If you hadn't read the story, go read it.
Hezekiah was told disaster would come, but after his death.
That news made him "happy"
It'll happen, but not in his lifetime.
Most Christians, even the Bible illiterate ones, know the world's getting worse.
They just don't want it to occur in their lifetime.
Would it surprise anyone, I see their point.
Now try again, to comprehend how believers rarely blink an eye when some preacher encourages everyone to "vote for the lesser of two evils"
Now what "word" stands out in that comment - the lesser of two evils?
You see, we think we've seen (in history) current conditions we are in presently, and we have not!
One reason for that ( and there are many) is words. We don't know how to discern them.
This is not a post about voting or not voting.
It's not a post about coming judgement. (We're IN that )
It's about words. Slowing them down.
We need to be praying. Praying hard.
See, I slipped one by you. I said "praying hard."
What is that? How does one "pray hard?"
See how easy it is to say something that makes no sense?
Just pray. That's all. We need to repent before a Holy God.
Then pray for family, friends & country.
We all need to stop letting nonsense gibberish, whether it's from a pulpit or a political platform, lull us into a complacent stupor.
This final clip is a perfect example. It's short but view it all.
As always, when it comes to God's Word - tryReadNit!
