Revelation 21:3
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be wishthem as their God.
How can anyone discern that without having read the entire Bible.
Answer is : they can't.
Even having read the Bible a dozen times, leaves the reader in awe and wonder.
The difference is, since God's Word opens with this thought
and it's idea of restoration through salvation
appears on every page, by the time someone gets to this verse, if they can keep themselves from all the noise that surrounds this, they will come away with something real.
But many don't read God's Word in context anymore.
I'm in my final week of my third trip thru God's Word in almost 9 yrs.
If I had to describe God's Word, in one word, that word would have to be : overwhelming!
From the depth of my sin, to the height of God's mercy - overwhelming.
What's even more overwhelming than that is when one considers the methods or reasoning many use to deny, what God has said about our sin and His mercy.
So where do people get their ideas of heaven and hell?
If anyone ever truly has a desire to read God's Word in context, if they aren't praying, asking God to show them, along with using their intellect & reasoning,
They will soon be writing books and movies about 90 minutes in heaven or 23 minutes in hell, selling millions of copies.
Toss in some well known preachers to endorse this stuff and it's off to the races for this believer.
Someone should tell them, that race has no finish line.
Oh, I just did.
That race keeps one spinning their wheels while at the same time, making them "think" there getting somewhere.
Christians who read God's Word in context, find themselves applying there own judgements and assessments to themselves (and let me tell ya, that ain't no fun) and in doing so find they can't even measure up to who there discerning.
After growing weary of seeing this, it just reveals to me all the more, how I need God's grace & mercy every second of every day.
And you know what?
God is faithful!
When it comes to God's Word, people are famous for saying things like "well didn't I hear so & so say (this, that or the other)"
That lessons best learned watching 4 and 5 yr olds at play. When they are confronted with a clear statement of truth, concerning some area of correction, they cry "but so & so let's me do it"
Excuses for disregarding the truth starts early in life.
Revelation, in these closing chapters, talks about things like the great white throne judgement, where even heaven and earth flee. Except for some fire & brimstone rant, how often do we hear that in context?
Or the Holy city coming down? Talked about in Old Testament as well as New, but again,it's relegated to a sermon point in a 29 week sermon series.
So this post goes out to any believer whose ever said or thought :
"what will we do in heaven? There won't be anything to do? "
Since I don't have the strength to clean up my next thought, I won't and if your offended, good. You need to be.
If you've ever thought that,
- there being nothing to do in heaven..
Your messed up.
How do I know that?
Cause I wondered that at one time.
It'll take time to see that and don't take my word.
All it takes is, examine what you now know and compare that with God's Word in context.
I'm saving the second half of chap 22 till tommorrow night.
I drive at night listening to the Word.
from some good men that still know how to handle God's Word.
That's been my method for 9 yrs now.
So, can God meet us in the cab of a truck?
Stupid question but I'll answer it anyway. Yes!
I don't discuss it much and maybe at some point I will, but if anyone thinks that short drive to work, listening to God's Word on audio, might not yield much fruit?
Their mistaken. That much I know.

Read Gods Word in context!
**posts temporarily removed - will be back soon **Welcome to my : "this really isn't a blog is it? I named it tryreadNit..
All opinions on books, videos & links are my own and receive no compensation for any reviews.
So, how do we know if we are reading the Bible properly? If whenever your reading the Bible and it bothers you and troubles you and sometimes even makes you angry, chances are your beginning to understand it. Hang in there with reading it because the Bible is filled with amazing blessings but to get to them we must travel through some muddy waters.
I guess I began wondering if there were other Christians raised in the church who one day realized decades later that they never really read the Bible . They have no clue what it says. They only know what someone else told them it says.
A funny thing happens when you read Gods Word as it was meant to be read. In context from beginning to end. Cover to cover. You soon discover that what you were told doesn't square with what it actually says.
This blog chronicles my journey from when my eyes began to open since my first time thru the Bible. I examine how so many passages of scripture get twisted to fit someone's agenda. I talk a lot about "context." Quite often I sound critical and judgmental. This cannot be avoided. My goal is to promote discernment. My goal is to encourage others to research what the read and listen to . So many believers have no idea why they believe what they do.
The main idea of this blog is context. Read Gods Word as a book. Not rocket science. It will take some time. It wont happen over night. Comparing what we "thought" the Bible says to what it "actually" says can be frustrating but the blessing of understanding Gods Word in context is worth the effort.
Acts 17:11b
I recently purchased a chronological Bible that I truly love and I think it could help those who struggle reading the Bible .

slippery slope
Remember how, not that long ago, those who knew their Bible's, would say "that's a Slippery slope" concerning educational, political, religious or social issues. We may not be at the bottom but I wonder, how far are we from the top. The purpose of this blog is "context", which means -
->the set of circumstances or facts that surround a particular event, situation, etc.
->the set of circumstances or facts that surround a particular event, situation, etc.
Anything taken out of it, is a Slippery slope!
