So, how do we know if we are reading the Bible properly? If whenever your reading the Bible and it bothers you and troubles you and sometimes even makes you angry, chances are your beginning to understand it. Hang in there with reading it because the Bible is filled with amazing blessings but to get to them we must travel through some muddy waters.

I guess I began wondering if there were other Christians raised in the church who one day realized decades later that they never really read the Bible . They have no clue what it says. They only know what someone else told them it says.
A funny thing happens when you read Gods Word as it was meant to be read. In context from beginning to end. Cover to cover. You soon discover that what you were told doesn't square with what it actually says.

This blog chronicles my journey from when my eyes began to open since my first time thru the Bible. I examine how so many passages of scripture get twisted to fit someone's agenda. I talk a lot about "context." Quite often I sound critical and judgmental. This cannot be avoided. My goal is to promote discernment. My goal is to encourage others to research what the read and listen to . So many believers have no idea why they believe what they do.
The main idea of this blog is context. Read Gods Word as a book. Not rocket science. It will take some time. It wont happen over night. Comparing what we "thought" the Bible says to what it "actually" says can be frustrating but the blessing of understanding Gods Word in context is worth the effort.

This page is dedicated to "wake up" moments By that I mean ,when people finally realize that they have been lied too all their lives, whether intentionally or in-intentional.
My perspective comes from a Christian viewpoint but much can be learned from secular examples and that's why I'm comparing my own personal wake up moment to this online movement known as # walk away

Before I continue I will need to define what I mean when I mention "wake up" moments
1) wake up moments in christianity occur when they see themselves as God sees them. When they see what God intended from the beginning. This gets revealed by God alone.
Deception occurs thru ignorance of God's Word the Bible
2) wake up moments in the secular world (or anything other than a Christian worldview) occur when they discover they've been lied to. This gets revealed thru investigation & observation
Deception occurs thru lack of investigation

Similarities between these two concerning their being Deceived are :
They both thrive on ignorance of the facts & Ignorance of history .

Similarities between their "wake up moments are :
There are none.

For those raised in the church environment, such as I, our wake up moments come from eventually reading that Book many churchs avoid . The Bible.

Those who raised without a Christian worldview they come to there wake up moment upon realizing they only believe what they hear others say.

This occurs in a Christian as well but the Christian is 'led by God to investigate.

A Christians "wake up call will lead them to set aside the facts (temporarily) to pursue a relationship with Jesus and finding peace.

Those without a Christian worldview, after" waking up "remain in the facts thereby never finding (REAL) peace

These are just some initial thoughts I'll be adding more later.
