Good question, why is this getting God's Word back in context, important? One word ;
Delusion!
We're not waiting for it, it's not something off in the future.
It's right now, we're in it, living it, breathing it.
As I come to the conclusion of another trip thru God's Word finding myself after a couple years back in revelation.
After 3 weeks in the letters to the churches, I just tonight began chap 4 and my first thought was, "Whyyyy do we need 90 minutes in heaven, when we have God's description?"
Keep in mind, none of my passion would exist had I not first gone thru the first 65 other books, anyway.. Then my thoughts turned towards, churches don't speak of thrones and elders and crowns or rewards or angels in this manner, in context.
When they do speak of them, they become weird, abstract, far off & subjective.
They miss the beauty & simplicity of the set up of this book, which depicts the perfect storm (more on that later)
They miss finding all of Revelations imagery throughout all scripture as a way to interpret.
Revelation is not some scary obscure un attainable book.
I make it a point not to "over" study God's Word but listen to or read it. I do enjoy several careful Exegetical preaching from men as I listen and read, comparing everything thing they say to scripture.
The astounding effect it daily has in me, call it understanding, maybe joy or peace, amidst frustration and anger, truth is, I can't describe it.
Much of my time with God is at night, as I travel and that only adds to the effect God has in me.
I rarely discuss it in this manner cause church goers, thx to infinite sermon series, confuse my growth as my "experience."
It's hard to cut thru that mess.
I mention It here though because, from time to time, I get confused when I see un discerning, emergent leaders, enjoy much of what they call "God's favor" and quite often I am tempted to agree.
For a brief time, this happened tonight, even to the point of me wondering if I was wrong and possibly shutting down a blog like this.
I began wondering how those who toss into the Christian bin all the evangelical complex puts out and places the Bible's stamp of approval on it ALL?! how do they thrive.
Whether there reading the Shack or preparing a sermon warning church goers of false teaching, they do seem to be "blessed"
I said a simple prayer for help and while it shouldn't surprise me (but it always does) help came.
From a trusted source I forgot for a time, I was reminded of the culture we are in, one of intense delusion.
God's way of telling us of false teachers has been so mishandled by out of context preaching, it seems incomprehensible how to bring it back where it belongs.
I often imagine how conversations might sound concerning this, and I always wind up on the losing end of this due to enormous delusion.
Delusion is categorized by not knowing your in it. The question becomes, how do true believers function in a world of delusion only to be accused of this same thing when pointed out to others?
Answer.
Read God's Word in context. Those who still view it as God's Word will know what to do when the time comes.
It won't be easy but the attempt must be made by the older believers who love God's complete Word, to risk having there family, kids or neighbors or Co workers accuse THEM of being delusional as we strongly encourage them to ask themselves, why they haven't read it.
This is vital if they are ever gonna tell there kids what God's Word is all about as it will most likely be them to live thru some of it.
The modern church is absent when encouragement is needed for future days of God's judgement as well as absent to recognize it's clear signs.
Believers telling believers to read God's Word in context in order for them to pass it to there children..
.. is why it's important!
(may add to this later)
