So much has occurred during this time, least of which, I started this here blog.
I never ever saw that coming.
I started this, with those in mind who might ask "why is it so important to read ALL God's Word in context?"
Because of our kids & grandkids, that's why.
They need to know but if parents and grandparents aren't reading it in context, simply put, they are unaware.
I can't state that strong enough.
I'm thankful for the faithful men of God who preach /teach God's Word without agenda.
By agendas, I mean anything from an innocent, wanting ones life to be better to some apostolic plan to usher in some Holy plan by unifying religions.
There's tons of others between those but the point is, just read it. It's not complicated.
I plan to take a break from vrs by vrs, maybe a month.
I am so eager though to begin again because each time though yields something new.
My next time through will be more kingdom minded for now I am more able to see that passages aimed at me and this life were improperly read.
I didn't see that till I was two thirds through, last time.
So many subjects that Christians talk funny over and the kingdom tops the list.
I said earlier, we should be telling our kids and grandkids, but telling them what?
Another way put, if I were raising kids knowing what I know now, what would I do?
First I'd tell them the gospel. Jesus died & arose.
After learning of all that accompanies that, this should be enough.
Our faith is enough for God, but as far as the sanity of the one displaying it, that's another story.
I'd instill in them - absolute truth.
That belongs to the God of the Bible alone!
Our kids need to know that others will lie to them, saying absolute truth doesn't exist.
As they grow older, this will become more clear, that is if they learn how to compare their world to God's Word.
This can only occur if the parents & grandparents understand God's Word in context.
That takes time.
Pastor Joe Focht says it so good, in this clip :
Now the best way to confirm this is too clearly point out the utter ridiculousness of there not being absolute truth.
This used to be hard but not anymore.
The consequences of removing absolute truth are so clear.
Any modern day issue can be used to illustrate this.
Unfortunately, the main obstacle to revealing to next generation of there being absolute truth is.. Time.
That's why it's good to begin early.
Absolute truth comes in many forms but it begins in the home.
Telling the next generation absolute truth belongs to the God of the Bible will no doubt yield (what looks like to us) disastrous results, let's say, when these kids hit there teens.
Let's face it, if it didn't yield these results, that only means they were taught wrong.
But the seeds planted will grow again. How do I know? Because they did in me.
I didn't plan on this post going this direction but if I'm gonna say we need to tell our kids & grandkids something, it's only fair to mention what we should tell them.
I was spared much of the disastrous results, from holding onto an early upbringing that taught me God is absolute and there is no other, but I was only spared due to a thriving, affluent society I was raised in.
Sadly, our kids & grandkids will not have the same and anyone who does not believe that, has already given themselves over to rampant delusion.
God's Word in context was written to a generation such as the one behind us so it only seems fitting that in order to miss it, we'd need the parents and grandparents to be weaned and bred on one minute devotionals and out of context sermon series.
Pretty sad, if you ask me.
To middle aged believers who never read it, just read it, or as in my case, listen to it on audio.
To parents of young kids, read it to your young children, that way, your reading it too.
It's not up to you to explain it, just read it.
After God opens your eyes to what's going on, you'll know what to do.
Besides, if someone is going to hate you or your kids for reading God's Word (and they will) you may as well know why they hate you.
Here's a hint : it's because you believe in, and teach your children, that God's Word alone is absolute Truth.
The question is, are you ready for how the culture will respond to that?
And the answer to that is, no.
But you will be assured, that when you need it, God will be faithful in giving you and your children the strength & peace needed to endure anything life hands you.
This is so hard, posting like this.
Since I began reading God's Word in context,
I've lost faith in so much over the years.
But what I've gained is immeasurable. From my appreciation for my upbringing to my church family and I can't leave out my patient wife.
God's Word ends as it began.
With wonder / amazement /sorrow /passion / Love /salvation /assurance / Justice / hope and a longing to see Jesus.
My final posts, concerning my trip thru Revelation vrs by vrs will have thoughts on each book of the Bible, thoughts I've gathered thru the almost 3 yrs going thru it.
I'll post that soon.
Meanwhile, These two hymns tell it all.
Our kids need this kind of assurance!
